Course Description
The Intensive German & Austrian Ski/Snowboard Instructor Preparation Course/Exam Program is a 12 week all-inclusive program designed for students who would like to become fluent in German while studying to become a ski/snowboard instructor.
The program includes 9 weeks of the Intensive German Program in Kitzbuhel which combines four lessons daily, Monday-Thursday, of German language study with participation in the Free Time Program. Class sizes are small, between 2 and 6 students, which provides certain advantages that cannot be achieved in classes of a larger size. Everyday German (high German only) will be taught for the first 7 weeks of the course. The last two weeks will be devoted to special vocabulary and expressions for skiing or snowboarding. Each lesson has a duration of 45 minutes. Accommodation with 2 meals daily (breakfast and dinner) in Kitzbuhel is included.
In addition to German language lessons, students will have 7 to 8 weeks total of skiing/snowboarding instruction on the glacier of Kaprun on weekends, Friday-Saturday. All lift passes, round-trip transportation to and from Kaprun, and accommodation in Kaprun is included.
During the fifth week of the program, students will depart for a 7 day Eastern Europe trip that includes visits to Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and Budweis. Transportation and accommodation in 4 star hotels are included.
After completion of this program and receipt of a passing grade on the exam, students will be an Austrian-qualified ski/snowboard instructor and will have the ability to work for a whole winter season as a ski/snowboard instructor.*
* Work as a ski/snowboard instructor is not guaranteed; the student must pass the Intensive German Program, the ski/snowboard instruction, the Austrian ski/snowboard instructor preparation course and exam in order to become an Austrian-qualified a ski/snowboard instructor. It is the student's responsibility to apply for and obtain work after completion of the course.
