Rio de Janeiro,
with a population of 10 million, sits on the southern shore of a landlocked harbour within Guanabara Bay. The city's streets and buildings have been shaped around the foothills of the jungle-clad mountain range. Home to one of the most famous and recognizable statues in the world, Christ the Redeemer holds his arms open for all who inhabit this bustling city, while Copacabana beach sprawls as an enormous length of sand. The city is home to many, from the very rich to the very poor, and is living on the edge of maximum-saturation. Yet, it has some great points that attract travelers from all over the world every year, such as the Jardim Botânico, a green space with natural jungle and avenues lined with gigantic imperial palms that date from 1808. Cable car rides up to Sugar Loaf Mountain is a favorite for visitors, and there's no way to avoid the vibrant and rhythmic Brazilian music.
The climate between May and August remains at around 22–32°C (70-90°F). December through March is the rainy season and temperatures range closer to 40°C (100°F).
