Chania (Hania) is located on the northwest coast of Crete. This is a picturesque city and walking through Chania means coming across Minoan remains as well as Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman and Neoclassical landmarks left by the different civilizations which flourished on the island and have been kept alive in the traditions and customs of the inhabitants.
The Venetian harbor of Chania is ringed with restaurants, taverns, cafeterias and ouzo bars. From there and through narrow streets the city invites visitors to its mysteries. The city also boasts the Archaeological and the Historical Museums, Venetian churches, Greek churches with old Byzantine frescoes, the Municipal Market, and the Halepa Quarter.
