Lodging & Arrival Information - Moscow, Russia

Lodging

Homestays are the preferred option for most students, and all families are regularly inspected. Students can expect to find clean rooms, that, by Russian standards, are spacious. Rooms are furnished with one bed or sofa bed, wardrobe, desk with light, chair, and a mirror. Bathroom and kitchen are shared with the family. All apartments have a telephone. Breakfast and dinner are always included. Lunch is offered in the school's cafeteria at additional cost, and can be purchased prior to departure. Linen will be changed every two weeks. Clean towels are available once a week. Maximum travel time to the school is 50 minutes, average travel time door to door is 40 minutes. Half the families live in the center, the other half in modern suburban areas of Moscow.

Participants specify the preferred type of host-family when signing up. These preferences will be taken into consideration, but we cannot make any guarantee that they will always be met absolutely. Families are usually selected without any foreign language knowledge (English speaking Russians are desperate for English conversation). However, if a participant feels uneasy about this approach, we will try to find him/her a place to live where English is spoken. Experience shows that even absolute beginners will be able to communicate after the first few days.

It is obvious that a certain flexibility and tolerance on the part of the guest will be necessary for a successful stay and integration. Russia is a country with basic infrastructure. Power or hot water failures are not uncommon. However, justly famous Russian hospitality will play its part in overcoming most of these problems.

Other Accommodation Hotel and apartment lodging is also available upon request and at additional cost.

Arrival Information

An arrival transfer from the airport is included in the cost. Students will be met by local staff staff (a driver and staff member who speaks English). Lodging information is sent 7-14 days prior to departure. Information on where to go and how to get there will be sent to students prior to departure.
