Programs

 
 
The school offers 8 levels of instruction: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced, Superior, Proficiency.

For all programs and at no additional cost, students can also choose between the following optional courses at two classes per week:

Orientation:
NRCSA programs will held an Orientation session locally. The orientation designed to provide students with important information about immigration, law of the countries, and the services offered by the school. The orientation program also helps you to acquaint to the educational and cultural atmosphere and provide an opportunity to meet other students.

First Day:
With regards to the program, all levels of the language are accepted, from complete beginner to advanced, and your exact level is determined by a placement test to make sure we put you in the right class. One of the unique things about the NRSCA program is the ability to combine the language classes with an extensive choice of culture classes. In addition to the language classes, we also include our culture and social events program in the afternoons for students to interact with other student and learn about the culture.

Materials
Teachers use our own course book, developed by a team of our teachers, for about half of the class, while the other half of the class is devoted to special class needs and supplements, such as selected audios, videos, and current readings.

Teachers
All of our teachers are native speakers with university educations and are very experienced teaching Spanish to foreigners. Most have learned a second language themselves and understand the student's perspective. They are devoted to helping students best reach their goals and to keeping the classes enjoyable and entertaining.

Standard Program
 

Group, 20+ hours per week. A 2 to 10 week course of 20 Spanish Language classes + 4 Spanish Language and Culture classes per week. The timetable is usually from 9:30 to 13:00 (in high season from 14:00 – 17:30 also) Monday to Friday, with two different teachers. This course has a maximum of 12 students per class.

 
Intensive Group Program
 


Group, 20+ hours per week. This intensive 'mini–group' course is offered for 2 weeks and upwards with 20 Spanish Language classes + 4 Spanish Language and Culture classes a week. It is designed for those people who have little time available or need to practice as much as possible. The average age of the students is about 30 although there are also students from 18 to 60. The main difference to the above mentioned Group 12 course is that the maximum number of students per group is 6 and there is more time to practice your Spanish as well as more direct contact with your teachers. The timetable is from 9:30 to 13:00.


 
Group +Tutor Program
 

30 hours per week. Group +Tutor Program 20 hours per week combined with 10 hours per week of private tutor lessons. Tutorial lessons allow students to focus on language areas which require rapid improvement. The timetable is Group lessons from 9:30 to 13:00 plus 2 hours per day of Tutor lessons from 13:30 to 15:10.

 
Semester Program
 

Standard Course 20 hours per week. The program is designed for individuals seeking greatly increased Spanish fluency, and are able to devote a significant amount of time to attain this goal. Classroom and lesson structure are the same as Standard Group 20+ 4 Spanish Language and Culture classes a week, with a lodging and price level tailored to long-term study.

 
Super Intensive Mini-Group Program
 


Group, 30 + hours/week. The course is offered for 2 weeks and upwards with 30 Spanish Language classes + 4 Spanish Language and Culture classes a week. It is designed for people who have little time available, or who are highly motivated and need to advance Spanish language skills rapidly in a short space of time. All classes in these courses are divided into distinct blocks: the first one deals with the language in itself, the structures and communicative functions. The second part deals with concrete cultural themes in order to develop all the abilities or skills integrally: oral expression, aural understanding, written and reading comprehension. Classes do not progress in a rapid linear fashion, rather globally and in depth.

This course is officially recognized as a Professional Training Course (Bildungsurlaub) in the following states in Germany: Hamburg; Schleswig–Holstein; Hessen; Rheinland Pfalz, Niedersachsen and Brandenburg.


Study & Internship Program
This Study & Internship program in Sevilla combines a minimum 2 week Standard Group Spanish Study program followed up with a minimum 8 week Internship Work Experience placement in the community.

All internship opportunities will work in partnership with local people in a variety of community-based projects.

This unique program offers exciting hands-on work opportunities, meaningful cultural immersion, and an enriching language program.

DELE -Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language
DELE courses for students wishing to have an official qualification in Spanish.

The intensive preparation course for this internationally recognised diploma, which can be obtained at three different levels: Inicial, Básico and Superior. In order to sit the exams, students must have a pre-intermediate level for the Inicial Diploma, for the Básico they should be at least intermediate level, and students wishing to sit the Superior level should have an advanced level of Spanish at the beginning of the course. Students will attend morning classes on our General Intensive course and in the afternoon will receive 6 additional classes of specific exam preparation. The DELE exams are held in Seville at the same time as they are held in 18 other Spanish cities and more than 100 centres abroad in 2 sittings a year - May and November.

DELE Intensivo
This 4 weeks program is offered to intermediate level and above Spanish speakers who would like to attempt to pass the DELE exam for a diploma at the 'Inicial,' 'Intermedio,' or 'Superior' level.

Business Spanish
Business Spanish courses for students wanting to take the official Chamber of Commerce exam.

CLIC as an official examination centre for the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, offers a 4 week preparation course in collaboration with the University of Alcalá de Henares. Students can sit the Advanced Certificate in Business Spanish.
The course is made up of 20 + 4 classes per week as well as 10 classes of Business Spanish in groups of 6 to 12 students. Topics included in this course are: business correspondence, verbal negotiation, socio-political geography, as well as the state of the Spanish economy in the Hispanic and International markets.
It is an ideal course for professionals working in import-export or for those who wish to work in Andalusia.
Exam pass rate: 100%

 
Hispanic Studies Supplement
 

2, 3, or 4 weeks, 10 hours/week supplement to Standard Group 20 hrs/wk program. This course offers 10 hours per week allocated to the study of literature and the history of the Spanish language. This course is designated for advanced level students attempting to gain a fluent grasp of Spanish.

 
Conversation and Grammer Review Supplement
 

2, 3 or 4 weeks, 10 hours/week supplement to Standard Group 20 hrs/wk program. This course offers 10 hours per week of conversation practice and grammatical review in a directed yet relaxed setting, and in groups of 3 to 6 individuals possessing like language levels.

Business Spanish Supplement
In addition to the chosen course, there are 10 classes a week in small groups. Ideal for those that need to supplement their studies in Spanish with basic knowledge about the business environment. Although the content of the course is adapted to the specific needs of the students, topics will include negotiation, the telephone, business correspondence, as well as a general overview of the company structure and the socio-economic situation in Spain.

Spanish & Flamenco
This Spanish & Flamenco program enables you to combine a Spanish course with the discovery of the world of Flamenco. This unique program offers exciting hands-on dance classes, meaningful cultural immersion, and an enriching language program.

This program is an amazing experience that will allow you to learn Spanish while experiencing Spanish culture through its most fascinating cultural element; Flamenco music and dance. You will receive theoretical and practical instruction in a renowned and professional Flamenco academy which forms part of the Flamenco Dance Museum of Sevilla.

Program includes 4 Flamenco classes per week at 1.5 hours per class. 2 week minimum.

Start dates: March 14, April 4, June 20, July 4, September 12, October 17

 
Senior Course 50+
 

This course is designed for the more mature student, or over-50s. Classes comprise individuals over 50 years old with similar language proficiency levels. The small-group classes are focussed on practical, everyday communication in Spanish with emphasis on listening and speaking, as well as cultural and social aspects, rather than grammar analysis and writing.

The program includes transfer from Seville airport upon arrival, a welcome-drink, 20 classes in small groups, and social and cultural activities on 4 afternoons/evenings per week. Entrance tickets to the local monuments are included as is a full-day excursion (Saturday), a theatre evening and one dinner with the teacher per course.

 
Teen Summer Program
 

The International Spanish & Activities Teen Program is designed for students ages 15 through 17. This international program is balanced with highly qualified teachers and includes a varied social program 4 afternoons a week including sports, cultural visits, excursions to nearby places of interest (Carmona, Aljarafe and Italica), parties, films and days at the beach. Also included is an airport or train transfer on arrival and departure by a staff member of the program.

The birthplace of the Emperors Hadrian and Trajano is located in the Roman city, 8km from Sevilla. A specialised guide will conduct the tour and the students will be able to contemplate the layout of the streets and houses, the mosaics and the spectacular amphitheatre.

09.30 Excursion to Cordoba with CLIC Teachers
The bus will leave from CLIC and in Cordoba there will be a visit to the Mezquite (Mosque), lunch in the Jewish Quarter and a visit to the historical quarter. Cordoba is a 2-hour journey from Seville and is a city which tells us much about the splendour of the Arabandaluz culture. As well as visiting a different city, students will be able to enjoy the Andalusian countryside from the bus including the olive groves and the indigenous vegetation typical of the region. An unforgettable excursion that will allow students to understand the differences and similarities between the different Spanish regions


 

Special Activities

 
Cultural & Social Activities
 


After class activities are important, to facilitate both learning about Spain and meeting other students. The cultural activities schedule of 10 to 15 hours per week take place in the afternoon or evening and comprise visits, sports, talks, excursions, films, roundtable discussions, and parties amongst many others activities. Additionally, the school is open to further suggestions from students.

Information is provided about the possibility of practicing sport and other free–time activities, inside and near Sevilla, such as horse riding, swimming, bullfights and flamenco dancing, Sevillana classes, yoga and ceramic courses, and visiting nature reserves and the best beaches. Inexpensive transportation from the school to the beach every Sunday is available.

Exchanges with Spanish students who study English, French and German at the center are also available. This exchange provides a wonderful opportunity to put into practice the Spanish knowledge you have acquired in class while at the same time provides a platform for meeting interesting people.


 
Excursions
 

On Saturdays the school organizes full day excursions to Granada, Córdoba, Cádiz, Ronda,
the mountains in winter and the beach in summer (1 hour from Seville). These excursions take place on Saturdays and Public Holidays. We also offer weekend excursions to Granada and Morocco at additional cost.

Parties

Our exchange parties are justifiably famous amongst the young people in Sevilla as is our meeting point in the bar "Qué Punto".


 

Admissions & Academic Credit

 
 
Students age 17 years and older are welcomed, unless enrolled in the Teen Program, regardless of educational background, occupation or nationality. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required except where otherwise indicated.

Students desiring credit for their study programs should contact their home school or request the NRCSA Credit Fact Sheet. Generally, U.S. schools consider 15 hours of study to be equal to 1 semester credit. Many European universities accept work from this school for academic credit including the universities of Bremen and Berlin, who substitute this center's program for their credit conversation classes. The school is also recognized by many North American universities.

Certificates & Exams

 
 
Upon completing a level, there will be a test to evaluate the progress in the course, which will be accredited by a school certificate as well as a personal report.

The Super Intensive Mini-Group Program is recognized in Germany as a Professional Training Program.

The DELE diplomas are official diplomas given by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science which recognize the candidate as having a certain skill level in the Spanish language. The exams are held in Sevilla in May and November.
