Programs & Activities - Alicante, Spain

Programs

Classroom time is made as productive and enjoyable as possible to ensure the best results. At each school location, the director organizes the language level groups and supervises student progress.

The school has adopted their course material into four books: CICLO I, II, III, and IV that are a solid foundation for further language study through conversation, audiovisual and real life material. The school's methodology also includes use of other reference material, video, CD-ROM and the internet.

Orientation:
NRCSA programs will held an Orientation session locally. The orientation designed to provide students with important information about immigration, law of the countries, and the services offered by the school. The orientation program also helps you to acquaint to the educational and cultural atmosphere and provide an opportunity to meet other students.

First Day:
With regards to the program, all levels of the language are accepted, from complete beginner to advanced, and your exact level is determined by a placement test to make sure we put you in the right class. One of the unique things about the NRSCA program is the ability to combine the language classes with an extensive choice of culture classes. In addition to the language classes, we also include our culture and social events program in the afternoons for students to interact with other student and learn about the culture.

Materials
Teachers use our own course book, developed by a team of our teachers, for about half of the class, while the other half of the class is devoted to special class needs and supplements, such as selected audios, videos, and current readings.

Teachers
All of our teachers are native speakers with university educations and are very experienced teaching Spanish to foreigners. Most have learned a second language themselves and understand the student's perspective. They are devoted to helping students best reach their goals and to keeping the classes enjoyable and entertaining.

Standard Program
Group 20 lessons per week. The Standard Program is aimed at students who wish to combine the study and learning of the language with free time for themselves. The program consists of 20 Spanish and 4 culture lessons per week in small groups. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. 7 different levels, beginners to superior, are offered for this program with guided tours to museums (entrance fees not included), videos, and social activities are included. Culture and civilization classes are integrated into the program to enhance students' whole immersion education.

Students enrolled for a minimum of 4 weeks may be able to earn academic credit for their Intensive Group Program study.
See the Course List and Descriptions for more details.

Private Classes
Includes 20 hours per week of Spanish lessons with a private tutor. The program is recommended for those students at Advanced and Superior levels who have special needs (i.e. special vocabulary, Spanish history or literature, etc.), or any student wanting an intensive language learning program. Please inform NRCSA of any special needs in advance.

Group + Tutorial
Includes 25 or 30 hours per week of Spanish classes. This program combines 20 hours of the Group course with 5 or 10 hours of Tutor (one-on-one ) instruction weekly. It is designed for those students who want maximum language learning and/or special vocabulary in Spanish. Close attention is paid to the individual student's goals and needs. Students will have highly structured grammar lessons, interactive activities, conversation and written exercises. Specific homework assignments are given daily and every student is evaluated and tested on a weekly basis. Each lesson has a duration of 45 minutes.

Semester Program
Group 20 lessons per week plus Cultural Lessons . This program is aimed at those students who would like to learn Spanish "once and for all". It follows the same structure as the Intensive Group Spanish, with the same number of lessons per week (20 lessons + 4 culture lessons), the number of students per group, etc., and is economically priced.

The learning of the language, participating in everyday life, and the possibility of traveling around Spain give the student an in-depth experience of Spanish language and culture. Full-day excursions of 1 per month are offered (entrance fees not included).
